split, croatia
Our first morning in Split we took a walking tour of the old town. Split is certainly one of the largest cities we visited on the trip. The tour featured remains of the Roman Peristyle amid a myriad of other sites inside Roman Emperor Diocletian's palace.
One of our favorite features of the cafes along the riva in Split was that the featured large umbrellas and fans that will lightly mist you to cool you off. I'd say there's a distinct Italian influence in Split. There's a hodge podge of Mediterranean-style cuisine and some stores and restaurant close in the afternoon for a siesta.
Split is where I discovered that coffee with cream = coffee with WHIPPED CREAM! Coffee with milk = coffee with half and half. Suffice to say, we ordered a lot of coffee with cream throughout the trip. We were living it up on vacation!
